Shopify brings Shop Pay checkout into Meta's Muse

Shopify and Meta announced a partnership that puts Shop Pay checkout inside Muse, so a purchase the agent recommends can be completed without leaving the agent. Shopify's share price rose about 7% on the news.

What it means for your catalog: if you sell on Shopify, the transactable stage is being solved for you. The whole game is now whether the agent finds and understands your products before it reaches checkout. If you are not on Shopify, you need your own path to checkout, through a connector or a commerce API.

Meta opens the Muse connector platform to businesses

Businesses can now submit a connector so Muse can use their service directly. Meta reviews each one for functional, security and legal requirements, lists approved connectors in a directory, and editors pick some for featured placement. Payments run through Stripe Link. Meta has not published fees, a revenue share or a review timeline.

What it means for your catalog: the directory is small, so early, well-built connectors get disproportionate visibility. Your API has to be agent-friendly, not just reachable: clear product data, availability and price in the response, and simple, predictable actions.

Meta launches Muse, a personal agent that browses, fills forms and buys

Muse runs in its own secure virtual machine with a real browser, works on tasks after the app is closed, and asks for approval before it spends or sends. It launched in the US and Canada and passed ChatGPT as the top free iOS app within two weeks, with roughly 2.6 million downloads across iOS and Android by Sept 21.

What it means for your catalog: the agent reads your site the way a browser does. Prices rendered only by scripts, missing stock information, and aggressive bot blocking each make a product invisible to it. Most catalogs we test have at least one of the three.
